A Note from Abbi: Why I’m Running
The coroner is in a position to greatly influence the health and lives of those in our county. My knowledge, experience and education will allow me to build collaborative relationships with existing organizations in our county to implement programs aimed at helping those in McLean County live healthier and longer lives.
Being a coroner has been a life-long dream of mine. I look forward to using my experience helping families during stressful and traumatic times as I help individuals and families in McLean County as coroner. I enjoy Integrative Health and Functional Medicine and truly believe we can live healthier, longer lives with lifestyle and nutritional changes.
As an elected official, I will ensure everyone gets equal attention, no matter where they live in McLean County.
What Abbi Will Do As Coroner
A coroner should be more than merely an elected official responsible for the investigation of deaths. When elected, Abbi will confront the health issues we face here in McLean County.
Abbi will address not only the opioid crisis we’re facing, but also the use of methamphetamines, which has become a growing trend here and in surrounding counties. She will provide appropriate and relevant education on this crisis, and work to implement programs that will benefit and support members of our communities.
While our county is fortunate to have so many valuable mental health resources available, more could be provided, and many need to be made more aware of what’s available. Abbi will work with the county board and other agencies to address the mental health concerns and challenges prevalent in our communities — as well as the long waiting periods to see a provider — by implementing additional assets and working to improve how we inform the public about the resources available.
Abbi will manage an office with a positive work environment, while making certain the office is efficient and accountable to taxpayers and citizens.
Abbi has always been a firm believer in doing anything she asks of her team. As coroner, Abbi envisions instilling herself into the call rotation within the office. Because the coroner is a salaried position, this will help decrease costs associated with overtime and additional part-time staff. Additionally, she would like to decrease the salary of coroner in order to reallocate funds and provide for more reasonable pay for the staff who give so much to the office.
